Seems to be a roll of the dice on working/not working. I have the newest version (4.3.0.44) running fine on my TF700T, Nexus 7, and Galaxy S3. I actually really like because it finally brings collections to Android devices.

After several uninstall/reinstalls, it finally worked. I would expect another update to come out shortly as there is a ton of complaints on the Playstore.

Downloaded Kindle books won't work offline

Anyone experiencing problems with downloaded books from Kindle? I used to be able to read them offline, but all of a sudden, I can no longer access them through my library. Prompts me to connect to internet, but I don't have internet where I'm currently using the tablet. Suggestions?

Welcome to the forum Tracy. When you say you try to access the downloaded books "through my library," are you talking about the library within the Kindle app? You should be able to read it offline!

Multiple threads on this issue merged - post 7 contains the reasons for these glitches...

The most recent Kindle app requires that you are on a good Internet connection when it first runs. It then refreshes all its data in the new app because of the significant nature of the update. In certain circumstances, it might even require you to login again.

    Amazon Kindle Upgrade

My TF 101 said to upgrade to the latest version of Kindle. I did that. The screen went black and it was locked. When I rebooted, I uninstalled the Kindle Upgrades. It returned it to the original. My books were still in the library.

But now I can't open any of the books. It says they are gone. And the screen stalls.

Anyway to 1) get the app working again?
    2) Get my books back?

I am ready to call it quits and just buy a Kindle. Less problems.

IF you bought the books from Amazon they are 'in the cloud', go to amazon.com, sign in, click on 'My Account' > 'Manage My Kindle', any books you 'purchased will be listed there and you can resend them to the device/app you wish.

As for the App, go go settings > apps, uninstall the kindle app, go to play store and reinstall it, then register/set it up - at that point you can add the books back as above or sideload them again from whereever you backed them up. (you DO have backups??)

    Good luck

I'd just add to Scott's advice above (before you try to reload your books) to...
    1) Go to settings, applications, all - find Amazon Kindle - clear cache, clear data, force close the app (you won't be able to uninstall it as it comes as a stock app with the firmware from Asus)
    2) Power off your tf101 & then cold boot it - see the link on that in my signature, below if you aren't sure what to do.
    3) Go to the Play Store and install the update to the Kindle app - the most recent update is very stable, but you must ensure you are connected to a good Internet connection when first running the newest version of the app
    4) Now re-enter your Amazon account details and reload your books from the Amazon cloud storage as Scott suggested.

As far as getting a Kindle e-reader (paperwhite or whatever) remember that the two devices are very different indeed. A Kindle device is only an e-reader (a very good one, mind you ). Your tf101 can be an e-reader and do a whole lot more besides.

    All the best

    Scott Porter and Janner43!

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
    It worked.

Janner43, I couldn't get the cold boot to work, and I followed the instructions. It just booted up like normal. But the new version is installed and all my books are back.

It's a great day to read because the weather is rotten. Thanks again, guys.

    jj
